PART I: The Journey (c): Career materials (CV & employment letter)

 THE JOURNEY (c)

(Career Material)

Introduction

It is commonly admitted that, indeed, life is like a journey. One comes into life

through birth from the mother's womb. Then the visible physical life starts moving. One

grows, gets settled with a family, grows old, and then, passes away. Between birth and

death, many things happen with ups and downs. Mine is not that different. Below is the

sketch (biographical sketch) of what i went through for the sixty-three (63) years, mostly,

the the academic, the professional, the experiential, as well as the language skills are

concerned.

To whom it may concern

It is with a keen interest that I am applying for the position of an administrative position at your academic institution of higher learning.

I have a MA in religion from Andrews (1992), a DMin (2010) and a PhD (2022), also from Andrews.

I am a Seventh-day Adventist church member, “in good and regular standing.” Moreover, I am an ordained minister with many years of experience in the field. My career profession took me through the different levels of the Adventist organizational system (local church pastor, district pastor, mission president, conference president, union departmental director, division executive secretary, and division president) as well as Adventist institutional system (General Educational Development—GED Director, visiting lecturer at Université Adventiste Cosendai, Cameroon, university chancellor for Adventist universities in West-Central Africa Division—WAD, namely: Babcock University in Nigeria, Valley View University in Ghana, and Université Adventiste Cosendai in Cameroon). Administratively speaking, I think I may contribute to the development of your institution.

Research wise, it is commonly said of Sr. Isaac Newton’s statement whereby we still have “the ocean of the unknown truth” lying before us. Therefore, it is my intent to position the institution regarding the research pursuit passionately, creatively, innovatively, patiently, and perseveringly, in order to contribute to the knowledge industry and help solve some of the issues that challenge our society, and also participate in somehow alleviating human suffering.

In teaching, research, and leading (in short, in serving), I try to be as detailed, thorough, and systematic as possible in the training of young people..

My commitment to Christian Adventist education stems from the fact that I am a Seventh-day Adventist today because of Adventist education. I personally met my Savior at an Adventist secondary school. That is why I am so committed to Adventist education. That is also the reason why I would like to help other young people in one way or another, hoping that some may have the same experience that I had (meeting their Savior and Lord, and accepting to follow Him).

I strongly believe in collegial work, I enjoy team work. Experience has taught me that together we achieve much. There is power in interdisciplinary as well as trans-disciplinary work and scholarship.

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

Gilbert Wari
